Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival – Entebbe Airport

Our tour guide / driver will receive you upon your arrival at Entebbe Airport. He will brief you about the 8 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari and then transfer you to a hotel in Entebbe for relaxation and dinner as you get ready for the next day.

Day 2: Mabamba Swamp Birding Excursion

You will have an early morning breakfast and be transferred to Mabamba Swamp, the home of the rare shoebill stork. The drive to Mabamba is an experience of its own offering chances of exploring various bird species like; papyrus gonolek, white-shouldered tit, red cap, western banded snake eagle, white-winged warbler among others. Upon arrival in Mabamba Swamp, you will get into a canoe and head into the swamp in the company of a local guide with expertise in paddling through the narrow water channels surrounded by dense swamp vegetation. Birding in Uganda`s Mabamba swamp on Lake Victoria features counts of birds notable among which is the Shoebill stork. Other bird species include; grey herons, jacanas, ruffaus squaco, bellied heron among others. Other species like blue swallow, ducks and egrets among other birds can be explored. You will retreat from the experience and drive to a hotel in Kampala for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After an early morning breakfast at the hotel in Kampala, you will embark on a journey to Murchison Falls National Park. You will make a stopover at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola for to take part in rhino tracking. Have an opportunity of tracking these endangered species and learn more about them. You will have lunch in Masindi and then proceed to Murchison Falls National Park arriving at the lodge in the evening in time for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Boat Cruise to the Falls

You will begin your day with an early morning breakfast and then go on a morning game drive in the park. Animals you are likely to encounter include; buffaloes, hartebeests, antelopes, kobs, giraffes, hyenas, bushbucks, warthogs, oribi among others. If you are lucky, you will also spot big cats such as lions and leopards. The park is teeming with a variety of animal species widely spread all over the Savannah grasslands, grazing or hunting for prey. This makes the park’s landscape so amazing for game drives. It is the Uganda’s oldest and largest national park and is also bisected by the renowned River Nile into two parts such as the Northern bank and the Southern bank. You will return to the lodge for lunch.

In afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise to the base of the falls where you will have an opportunity to spot several herds of buffaloes, crocodiles, hippos, water bird species and other wild animals as they flock River Nile to drink water. The boat will lead you to the base of these falls, where you will disembark from the boat and start off on a 1 hour hike to the top of the falls for a more beautiful view. You will meet up with your tour guide / driver at the top of the falls who will later transfer you back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Hot Air Balloon Ride – Afternoon Boat Cruise to the Nile Delta

Your tour guide / driver will pick you up early in the morning to start your hot air balloon safari on the Paraa side of Murchison Falls National Park. You will be transported to the starting point of your hot air balloon safari. The pilot will give you a short briefing after which you will board and start your hot air balloon safari. This experience will give you a better panoramic view of the park as you spot numerous animal and bird species in the park. This whole experience may take up to one hour exploring Murchison Falls National Park. After landing, you will be given certificates and those that would have paid a full hot air balloon package be treated to a full bush breakfast. You will then be transferred back to your lodge for relaxation, lunch and an afternoon boat cruise to the Nile Delta where there is a lot of action and activity. Depending on your luck, you may find elephants, buffaloes, hippos crossing, crocodiles and you may as well spot the rare shoebill stock. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Kibale National Park.

In the morning after breakfast, you will embark on a 7 hour drive to Kibale National Park, the home of chimpanzees and other primates. You will make a stopover in Fort Portal town for lunch and then proceed to Kibale National Park, arriving at the lodge in the evening in time for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking – Bigodi Wetland Tour

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kibale National Park headquarters at Kanyankyu to join other trekkers for briefing and eventual chimpanzee trekking. Your game ranger guide will take you for a guided primate walk inside Kibale Forest National Park. This forest provides an opportunity to visit one of the habituated communities/part of chimpanzees and spend an hour with them observing and taking photographs. Kibale National Park is home to other 13 primate species coupled with forest birds. You will return to the lodge for lunch, after which you will drive to Bigodi village for a wetland walk that was designed to benefit the local community living around Kibale Forest National Park. You will thereafter return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Return to Kampala City – Entebbe Airport

After your early morning breakfast, you will embark on a 5 hour journey back to Kampala City or to Entebbe Airport to catch up with your flight back home or to your next destination.
